New York State is developing a “rating system” for child care programs. The system is called “QualityStars NY” and all programs licensed in New York State whether center or home based will be awarded one to five stars based on criteria to be determined. This system should be in place within two years.
The process is now in its’ initial stages. Child care professionals with various specialties will visit, evaluate and offer training for programs that have been selected to participate in the field test. The obvious goal is to provide a higher level of quality child care by enhancing existing programs.
Only 240 programs state-wide were selected to participate in the initial field test and with a combination of pride and humility, The Tender Nest has been approved as one of these programs.
